AYSO United Davis

Welcome to Nugget Fields!

The field address is 1801 Moore Blvd Davis, CA 95618. There are three fields named east (9v9), central (11v11), and west (11v11).

There are porta-potties on site. The closest flushing toilets are at CVS Pharmacy/Nugget Markets at the corner of Poleline Rd and Covell Blvd about 2 blocks from the fields.

Typically, AYSO United Davis teams wear navy for their home colors.

Please view our spectator layout and a mesage from our assigner below.

We look forward to a great game day!

Spectator Seating

We are proud and supportive of our youth and adult referee community -- and we have a 'no tolerance' policy for any negative commentary from spectators towards them. The spectator seating at Nugget Fields aims to give our Center Referee and Assistant Referees the space that they need to work as a team and focus on the game.

Supporters for each team will sit to the left of their coaching team on the same side of the field (opposite the other team and spectators). No supporters (for either team) will sit behind the Assistant Referees on either side.

We need players to stay in the player / coach areas during the game -- and parents and supporters to remain in their areas (outside of the player / coach areas) during the game. Please work as a community to ensure these areas are respected.

A Message from our Assigner

I am Jerry Gonzales (center below), the AYSO United referee assigner for the Davis AYSO United club. I enthusiastically want to welcome you to Davis to play and wish you the best for this Fall season. We embrace team enthusiasm and fair play for all the involved teams, coaches, and spectators. Supporting your teams and players is fantastic, and I strongly encourage your efforts.

Having said the above, I recognize that refereeing is difficult for all involved: coaches, players, spectators, and referees. We value our referees and strive to provide the best possible referees. Our referees are instructed to be professional and do the best job possible during games. Referees will satisfy 50% of the coaches and spectators on each call they make; someone has to do it. Unfortunately, many young referees have left refereeing due to spectator/coach abuse. Nationwide, the soccer referee pool is shrinking, making it increasingly difficult to staff soccer games with referees.

Conversely, I expect, and frankly demand, that all referees be treated respectfully and not abused. It is challenging to get referees and just as difficult to keep them. I have instructed our referees to professionally address those abusive moments and involved parties immediately to gain compliance. Referees are told to respectfully speak to coaches for their cooperation when spectators are excessively abusive; if the abuse continues, they will request the coach to remove the responsible individual or party. They may only abandon the game if there is immediate compliance.

If the offender is a coach, the referee will respectfully speak to the coach regarding his/her behavior. If it continues, a caution (Yellow cards) will be issued. Two cautions will be issued to the same individual, meaning the offender must leave the game and area. Referees don't like doing this, but they and I don't want to be abused.

This is the soccer practice, but it is often not enforced. In Davis, we'll be able to implement the above if necessary.

I would appreciate your help in addressing this issue. When you hear a fellow spectator speak up and admonish them to stop, as it's not helping the game and referee. Let's change the direction of this ship to be a more positive, supportive soccer atmosphere for everyone involved.

Thank you,

Jerry Gonzales
